The Fourth Messenger

So there’s this play about a guy who wants to build a utopia.

So pleased to announce my first theatrical project of 2013:

The Fourth Messenger is a new musical by Tanya Shaffer and Vienna Teng, directed by Matt August.

We’ll be performing at the Ashby Stage in Berkeley, February 6th through March 10th.  We perform Thursday through Sunday with an occasional Wednesday night.

If you are planning to come we are already selling out shows, so get your tickets here!  (There are some inexpensive prices on the previews for those of you financially strapped.)

Creating new work is always tough, and challenging, and amazing, and beautiful, and you really get a chance to discover what it is that you believe about a story.  I have done this several times for dance and a few times for film, but this is the first time that I have ever been a part of a brand new musical.  It is really fun.  Also, the first time ever that I have seen seven versions of a scene in one day.  And I liked them all.

The music is beautiful, to such a degree that I have missed cues that are interspersed in songs because I am enjoying listening to my cast mates’ incredible voices.

There is a joy in the rehearsal hall, and a sense of honesty and commitment that is such a blast to walk into.  It’s completely refreshing and nourishing.

You should come and see this show, my fellow humans!
